The Instrument & Control Design Engineer plays a pivotal role in the design and engineering of the Instrumentation and Control systems for our facilities. They must also have a keen awareness of the impact of Instrument and Control design within the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operations. They are to be a technical expert in the Instrument & Control field having sufficient experience within large scale engineering facilities. They are responsible for overseeing all aspects of Instrument design and engineering, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. In addition to this they need to be well versed in overseeing all engineering, internal as well as subcontractors engineering services and site services.
Qualifications/education/experience
• Bachelors or Master’s in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical or Electronic engineering specialising in instrumentation and control
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or another professional accreditation is preferred but not required
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar industry.
• General computer literacy (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and proficiency in computer aided design (CAD) and piping design software
• Strong knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards such as EN, PED, ASME, ANSI, and API
• Native fluency in English is preferred but full technical proficiency is required
• Experience of working in a multi discipline environment
• Experience on brownfield and greenfield projects
• Experience of following design projects through to construction phase
• Experience with, and motivated to, setting up work methods and procedures, work with process evaluation and documentation.

Job scope
High level purpose of function.
Instrumentation and Metrology Management oversees the methods development in the calibration process, instruments maintenance and overall Calibration Management System that meets company standards. Develops department capabilities and capacities according the needs. Verifies preventive maintenance programs and procedures. Reviews and approves the testing and evaluation methods of standard and special devices. Prioritizes schedules based on product introduction and manufacturing and engineering schedules. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Key responsibilities

· Manage department personnel and applied systems
· Develop calibration plan and lead calibration review meetings
· Lead team periodical meetings

· Lead continuous improvement projects for the department
· Ensure department workflow, system and SOP revisions including upgrades and improvements according defined Quality Standards
· Set 5S standards and maintain in high level

· Set training plan to improve individual performance
· Actively participate on yearly budget planning by define spare parts/consultants/services needs considering business cost challenges

Qualifications and experience
· BSc or MSc degree in Metrology/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or relevant
· 4+ years of relevant experience within the field of Calibration Engineering in manufacturing environment
· Experience in supervising a team of instrumentation personnel with strong leadership in multicultural environment
· Familiar with Calibration Management Systems, Beamex CMX is plus
· Experience in leading projects for process improvements
· Fluency in English

Kravspecifikation
Vi ser gärna att du har erfarenhet inom processindustrin samt har arbetat i projektform individuellt eller i större och mindre grupper. Du har förmodligen en teknisk utbildning från universitet, högskola eller YH.
Vi söker även dig som har lång arbetslivserfarenhet som el-, instrument- eller automationsingenjör och vill prova på rollen som konsult eller konstruktör. Körkort är ett krav då det förekommer resor och kundbesök i tjänsten. Vi förutsätter också att du behärskar både det svenska och engelska språket då det krävs i dialog med kunder.

Job Scope
High level purpose of function
Responsible for specification and design of process instrumentation and project engineering support at Northvolt’s upcoming giga-scale world class Battery Active Materials factory in Skellefteå, Sweden. Executing as EPC(m) project through partnership with top-tier international engineering contractors.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
Overall areas of responsibility and activities
· Act as the representative process instrumentation lead for the Northvolt owners project team, support the US2 project team to improve the quality of instrumentation deliverables (specifications, lists, datasheets, etc) issued by the EPCm contractor Worley, with support from the other Northvolt discipline leads, ensuring design is safe, functional, and cost-effective,
· Drive standardization initiatives for various field instrument types, through identification of opportunities in specifications in cooperation with the project contractor,
· Participate in regular meetings with the EPC contractor and Northvolt engineering teams,
· Manage project delivery within the instrumentation discipline,
· Review instrumentation engineering documents and drawings as necessary, provide comment and steer to the contractor, seeking opportunities for the owner’s team to leverage existing instrumentation framework agreements between Northvolt and its vendors,
· Evaluate change proposals from own discipline, from cost, schedule, constructability and HSE perspective,
· Develop a basis/blueprint specification for instruments used in Upstream processes and utilities. Improve the Northvolt instrumentation blueprint via collaboration with the Northvolt process, piping and mechanical teams,
· Provide technical guidance, management & closure of technical queries within your discipline, and coordinating the input from other discipline leads through the detailed design phase,
· Support the contractor by auditing the instrumentation ordering and delivery processes, ensuring that instruments ordered are accurately spec'd, preconfigured, and prepared for the field to enable ease of install during construction phase,
· Support with vendor package instrumentation specification and reviewing of instrument lists. Review the instrumentation deliverables for vendor packages ensuring that vendor instrumentation meets the project specifications.
· Attend design reviews, project review workshops, FATs as required,
· Provide input on and review ITP/QC requirements for vendor packages,
· Provide on-site support to Project Construction team(s) for field engineering issues. Support with the management and resolution of queries & issues with support of the Engineering Contractor,
· Support the contractor’s Instrumentation Design Lead in handover of the instrumentation design documentation and other deliverables to the Operations & Maintenance Team.

Requirements
Education or other qualifications or competences relevant in order to succeed in the job
Qualifications/education/experience
· Electrical/Controls/Chemical Engineering degree, BSc (hons), equivalent certification from a Instrumentation Technical Institution, or any equivalent,
· 5+ years of relevant work experience in similar roles, high familiarity with process instrumentation design,
· Experience in supporting other project functions with input, including estimating, scheduling, HSE risk assessments, model reviews, and constructability reviews.
· Previous experience with large-scale greenfield projects, particularly in the Battery Materials or Oil & Gas industries, is strongly desirable but not essential.
· Familiarity with Swedish and European laws, regulations and standards is strongly desirable but not essential.
· Experience in pCAM and/or CAM manufacturing and equipment selection is a plus.
· Fluent in English, ability to speak the Swedish language is a plus.
· Open to frequent travel for collaboration with the engineering contractor (U.K. based), and equipment vendors.
