POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking Continuous Improvement Engineers that will be responsible for working with suppliers and a cross functional client team to systematically improve the production output of the first DS1 Cell Assembly are of the facility initially, other areas may follow in future phases.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support and drive manufacturing engineering projects from solution identification, implementation, updating of documentation and data analysis to confirm the expected improvement has been achieved as well as ensuring safety product requirements are met?.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Development of Layered Downtime lists for each of the different machine groups that can be used to improve route cause analysis.
Undertake route cause analysis on specific elements of the cell assembly line to identify improvement opportunities.
In conjunction with the other team members, client team, OEM, and other suppliers, develop detailed solutions to the identified issues, taking account of all safety requirements related to the item of machinery.
Support the Continuous Improvement Managers to develop and maintain the consolidated “Open Item” list.
Support with the writing of technical specifications for the required modifications and the review of RFQ returns where additional orders need to be placed.
Supervision of the physical modifications as they are carried out in the defined non-production time, ensuring they are carried out in a safe manner.
Own and lead commissioning activities related to the installed modifications and support the handover for the item of equipment back to manufacturing.
Ensure all the machinery documentation is updated to reflect the changes that have been made. This will include the current maintenance procedures and additional maintenance activities developed because of the improvement.
Capturing and communicating the Lessons Learnt to address critical issues to prevent repeated mistakes?.
Interact closely with different engineering teams, business development, quality, industrialization to reach project goals.

Curious, technically educated, and preferably with a strong problem-solving background.
Experience and interest in equipment design, process development and commissioning.
Certifications and experience within clean/dry-room, hot works, radiation/laser safety, chemical safety or forklift is a merit.

The role is a part of our excellent Quality team based in Skellefteå. By joining us, you will be a key player in contributing to building one of the first large-scale European battery factories by providing knowledge and guidance in your field of expertise, driving/supporting problem solving of complex issues and improvement projects. You will be involved in the battery cell electrode production manufacturing process (wet and dry electrode).

- Provide expert technology and quality knowledge of wet and dry electrode manufacturing processes
- Creation of Control plan with participation in FMEA analysis. Facilitate continuous updating of PFMEAs by working in multidisciplinary teams with process engineering, R&D etc.
- Monitoring and analysis of complex data with the help of statistical process control tools
- Monitoring and analysis of internal and external quality problems
- Drive problem solving and root cause analysis

Quality Team

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Lead day-to-day quality control activities in production ensuring that production/product quality specifications are met.

Understand and be part of method development and validation. Don’t worry – we will train you!

Operate various analytical equipment such as ICP, KF and acid-base titrators, rheometers, BET, GC-MS, SEM, XRD, PSD, CT scanner, dimension measurement systems (2D and 3D), optical microscopes, tensile testers, etc.

Improve control checks according to control plan.

Interpret data and report data/results vs specification

-
Report problems and non-conformities (NCRs) that are detected and recommend the improvements.


Education/Experience

-
Bachelor´s degree (or technical school degree) in Chemical or Material Engineering or equivalent professional experience

Experience from quality control and assurance on the manufacturing shop floor

-
Experience in yearly, monthly, weekly and up to date reporting

-
Specific knowledge of quality management systems, e.g. ISO 9001, IATF16949, TQM

-
Familiar with SPC, FMEA, Quality troubleshooting tools and problem-solving methodology

-
Curious, technically educated and preferably with a strong business background

The Northvolt Quality Control team in Skellefteå is looking for driven young engineers or soon-to-be engineers, preferably with chemical or mechanical background. You will be working on various analyses, controls and tests of battery materials, components, intermediate product and finished Li-ion cells. We believe you have studied chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, chemistry or similar including laboratory work and as a person you are curious about the world of quality.
