Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Take lead in building your shift teams by supporting in recruiting, specifically by interviewing candidates in close collaboration with the manufacturing recruitment team
- Develop and support you team in becoming great at what they are supposed to do by on-boarding, training and developing them - we believe in rotation of work duties for competence development
- Ensure your team has everything they need to ensure that SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), WIs (Work Instructions) and other policies are followed
- Make sure your team knows what to do by assigning tasks, responsibilities and performance expectations and checking in regularly
- Suggest and implement improvements - individually and with your team
- Follow up shift performance and act on deviations
- Communicate and collaborate with other colleagues (other shifts, the maintenance team) in order to ensure good shift handovers and standardization
- Report deviations affecting the production and perform risk analysis to solve underlying issues
- Assure safe conditions with Lock Out Tag Out Try Out according routines when having repairs or inspections of equipment
- Participating in rotation of work duties, in order to develop the competence within the shift team
- Manage a budget according to role

We are looking for a shift manager to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our excellent Upstream team based in Skellefteå. By joining us, you will be a key player in establishing up Upstream and contribute to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.

About the job

As a Shift Manager in Upstream you have a good chemical understanding, as well as experience from working in a production setting with ongoing process. We believe you have experience in reading process and electrical drawings as well as a good understanding of equipment as pipes, pumps and valves. You will as a shift manager lead the shift and supervise and support employees. Ensure that standards are followed and employees are trained. Follow up shift performance and continuously look for improvement. Act on deviations and work with support functions to solve problems in long-term solution.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Ensure that SOP’s and WI’s are followed
- Train employees in SOP’s and WI’s
- Ensure development of employees (Technical, SOP’S, WI’s, Team development and behaviours)
- Suggest improvements and ensure improvements are being implemented when decided
- Supervise and support employees
- Assigns tasks and responsibilities to employees, as the employer’s representative
- Make sure check in, pulse meetings, other meetings are held as planned
- Follow up shift performance and act on deviations
- Calls in replacements in the event of an employee call-in or no-show.
- Communicates with other shifts to ensure good handover and standardization
- Communicate and cooperate with support functions to improve manufacturing
- Adhere to and enforce company policies and guidelines.
- Enforce the proper disciplinary measures when employees fail to adhere to company policy
- Recruit for own team
- Develop a team spirit that creates energy, encourages compliance with company standards and employment guidelines
- Follow up on performance metrics (competence matrix) for each team member and then work with team members to make sure that all metrics are met
- Responsible for ensuring that the work is carried out according to current instructions and that the safety regulations are followed."

We are building Revolt from the ground up and will need people who are not only comfortable following procedures but creating them as well. You will be a vital member of the Revolt Ett team. For a better understanding of the production and maintenance needs, you must actively participate when our machines and equipment are installed. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Take lead in building your shift teams by supporting in recruiting, specifically by interviewing candidates in close collaboration with the manufacturing recruitment team
- Develop and support you team in becoming great at what they are supposed to do by on-boarding, training and developing them - we believe in rotation of work duties for competence development
- Ensure your team has everything they need to ensure that SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), WIs (Work Instructions) and other policies are followed
- Make sure your team knows what to do by assigning tasks, responsibilities and performance expectations and checking in regularly
- Suggest and implement improvements - individually and with your team
- Follow up shift performance and act on deviations
- Communicate and collaborate with other colleagues (other shifts, the maintenance team) in order to ensure good shift handovers and standardization
- Report deviations affecting the production and perform risk analysis to solve underlying issues
- Assure safe conditions with Lock Out Tag Out Try Out according routines when having repairs or inspections of equipment
- Participating in rotation of work duties, in order to develop the competence within the shift team
- Manage a budget according to role

Specific Skills/Abilities

- High school diploma or other relevant education
- A couple of years of experience from manufacturing, where you have successfully worked with tasks described in the key responsibilities
- If you have worked in the process industry (battery/pulp and paper/food/chemicals/microelectronics/oil & gas/pharmaceutical processing or similar) including safety procedures, that is a merit
- Experience from leading others
- Knowledge and experience of lean manufacturing
- Good understanding of importance of safety and quality and the ability to make others understand and act according to this importance
- Good English both written and oral skills, basic Swedish and other languages skills is seen as a plus

The Production Block Managers will take responsibility for planning, directing and monitoring all production activities within your designated process area in order to maximize the use of the organization’s resources and meet established production specifications and schedules; safety, quality, deliveries, efficiency, cost, and people.


Northvolt’s journey starts in Västerås, Sweden with Northvolt Labs, a prototyping factory already in operation, while the giga-factories Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå and Northvolt Zwei in Salzgitter, Germany are being constructed and planned. As Production Block Manager you will be joining our team in Northvolt Ett Production as one of five Production Block Managers who are leading, directing, evaluating, and developing a team of Shift managers who are responsible for various production activities such as, machine operation, processing, assembly or packaging. In joining this team, you will gain extensive insight into Northvolt’s manufacturing, as well as get support and opportunity to develop your management and leadership skills. The Production Block Manager is a vital member of the Northvolt Ett Production team and, alongside being a part of a vibrant and diverse organization, you will be key to Northvolt's mission to enable the future of energy.


You:


We are looking for an enthusiastic learner who takes ownership and responsibility for tasks and is eager to collaborate to achieve great results. We would like to see that you have a background in modern Operations Management principles such as Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma. You will be participating in developing and/or implementing manufacturing procedures and allocate labor and capital resources to maximize productivity and yield. You will be working with analyzing production and malfunction records to identify problems and recommend solutions (for example changes to procedures, workflow, or equipment) that will improve performance. Previously you will have had firsthand experience in developing new methods, tools, and processes in dynamic and fast-changing environments, being responsible for implementation in your own area, and sharing of best practices. In general, you have a collaborative spirit, and you are eager to contribute to building great end-results.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Liaise with functional or operational area managers (for example in planning, logistics, maintenance, technology, quality) and together understand current and future needs and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities.
Together with maintenance, plan, prioritize, and manage production line maintenance or downtime to minimize disruptions to manufacturing schedules.
Has full managerial responsibility for multiple shift teams. Work is normally carried out in an indirect manner (as 'grandparent') and by setting organizational targets.
Ensure that work is performed in accordance with Northvolt’s Code of Conduct, applicable legislation, and policies as well as the management system routines and standards.
